The Spanish National Committee on Large Dams (SPANCOLD) is organizing the XIII Jornadas Españolas de Presas to be held at the World Trade Center in Barcelona from June 17 to 20, 2024. The event has been held since 1985 in different parts of the Spanish geography and, on this occasion, the Ebro Hydrographic Confederation and the Catalan Water Agency (ACA) will act as hosts, with the collaboration of CIMNE.
The Spanish Conference on Dams discusses and analyzes all those issues related to water regulation and use that are considered of special interest for public administrations and organizations, companies, professionals, universities and research centers.
In the current context, the conference will deal with two topics of special interest: the safety of dams and reservoirs and the role of dams in the face of climate change and energy transition.
The application of the new dam safety regulations, their conservation, maintenance and rehabilitation, and innovation in their planning, design, construction and operation, are undoubtedly issues of special attention for the sector.
At the same time, the necessary adaptation to climate change, guaranteeing with the development of hydraulic energy storage a safe integration of all renewable energies, will be key to achieve a correct energy transition.
