CIMNE Joins Secpho Innovation Cluster to Strengthen Collaboration in Technology and Research

Published: 25/02/2025

The International Centre for Numerical Methods in Engineering (CIMNE) has officially joined Secpho, an innovation cluster that brings together over 150 companies, research centres, and technology experts with a focus on deep tech solutions. By becoming a member of Secpho, CIMNE reinforces its commitment to fostering collaboration, driving technological advancements, and enhancing knowledge transfer in key engineering and scientific domains.

A Strategic Alliance for Innovation

Secpho is a leading innovation ecosystem in Catalonia, featuring prominent research centres such as EURECAT, ICFO, CVC, and i2CAT, alongside a diverse range of cutting-edge organizations. The cluster serves as a dynamic platform for fostering synergies among research institutions, technology developers, and industry stakeholders, aiming to accelerate the adoption of innovative solutions across multiple sectors.

As a world-renowned research centre in numerical methods and computational simulation, CIMNE brings extensive expertise in advanced computational modelling, artificial intelligence, high-performance computing (HPC), digital twins, and multi-parameter simulations. These capabilities are widely applied in fields such as civil engineering, aerospace, mobility, energy, manufacturing, and bioengineering, which are all fields of interest to Sepho’s partners.

Driving Innovation Through Collaboration

By joining Secpho, CIMNE strengthens its ties with the broader scientific and industrial community, facilitating joint research projects, technology transfer initiatives, and the development of innovative applications that address global challenges. As CIMNE’s head of Technology Transfer and Innovation, Jordi Jiménez, remarks, the centre’s longstanding focus on computational methods and digital transformation “aligns with Secpho’s mission of integrating deep tech innovations into diverse industries”.

This membership presents new opportunities for CIMNE to contribute to Secpho’s initiatives, including collaborative R&D projects, industry-driven innovation programs, and knowledge-sharing events. Through this partnership, “CIMNE aims to expand its impact on industrial innovation and continue its leadership in scientific and technological advancements”, says Mr. Jiménez.
