ABSTRACT

Prof. Eugenio Oñate will present his personal vision of the history of CIMNE. Its conception and creation in 1987, its evolution over the years and its main scientific, academic and technological activities in the last 34 years, which have shaped the personality and organizational structure of the centre.

SPEAKER CV

Prof. Eugenio Oñate is the director-founder of International Centre for Numerical Methods in Engineering (CIMNE) and Professor of Structural and Continuum Mechanics at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC) from 1979. His research has focused on the development of numerical methods to solve problems in the field of the resistance of materials, the analysis of structures, fluid dynamics and heat transmission, and coupled problems between structures and fluids for applications in different areas of civil, mechanical, aeronautical and naval engineering.

He has published 403 articles in indexed journals that have received 26,000 citations (Google Scholar). It has an index h= 76 (Google Scholar). He is the author of four textbooks and 361 Papers in International Journals. He is the principal editor of three indexed scientific journals (two of them in Q1) and 60 scientific-technical books. He has directed 67 doctoral theses (completed).
