ABSTRACT

The BIM (Building Information Modeling) methodology has managed to evolve the Architecture, Engineering and Construction (AEC) industry, presenting great potential for the entire life cycle of a project. The philosophy of collaboration and the development of coordinated work environments is profoundly changing the way in which AEC professionals interact. However, it global implementation has not been easy and poses great challenges.

This talk proposes an open discussion about the potential of BIM combined with other ICT technologies, with a review about the main difficulties that are observed in their practical implementation and the challenges it represents, in addition to reflecting how the incorporation of simulations and other ICT technologies such as Big data, virtual reality, augmented reality, mobile technologies, among others, will have an important role in the acceleration and success for the BIM adoption.
