Carles Estruch awarded a Pioner Award for his PhD Thesis

On 21st December 2016, Carles Estruch has awarded with a Pioner Award 2016 by CERCA for his PhD thesis entitled “Concept of Lightweight, Modular and Portable Inflatable Beams Bridge Concept”. The jury praised its contribution to market sophisticated technology with an innovative application of the immediate impact of the Estruch's PhD thesis that was supervised by Prof. Eugenio Oñate, director of CIMNE, and Prof. Benjamín Suárez, member of CIMNE's Governing Council.

Pioner Awards recognize with an endowment of 1,000 euros those CERCA researchers that have presented the thesis during the last 18 months. The main goal is to start or strengthen a technology or product that may be of interest to industrial or commercial, or contributes significantly to the development of public policy.

In this third edition, the jury has been integrated by Eduard Balbuena, research professor at the UAB Department of Enterprise; Josep Maria Pujals, lawyer from Oficina Ponti; Anna López, Director for Intellectual Property EQ Esteve; Joan Pere Cardona, principal investigator of the Experimental Tuberculosis Unit of the Research Institute Germans Trias i Pujol; and Adrià Batlle, Executive director at mVenturesBcn.
