New CIMNE desalination pilot plant

Dec 7, 2022

A new CIMNE desalination pilot plant arrives at the MtePack warehouse, where the electrical connection of its equipment will be made. The entire installation has been assembled by AMB ELECTRONICA. Process design, core distillation columns construction and automation and control system development are carried out by CIMNE. It travelled in a maritime container in which its removable parts have had to be cleared, in order to work properly inside.

Now, MtePack will be on charge of the electric installation of the infrastructure: the 2 cabinets will be connected, the one for the main power and current distribution board and the one that controls the desalination process itself.

When the electrical installation and fine-tuning of the plant's software and hardware is complete, it will be tested at the pilot testing facility at the Llobregat desalination plant at CIMNE's disposal.

CIMNE's COOL STEAM technology takes advantage of pre-existing thermal sources to desalinate water with energy savings and reduced environmental impact.
