Kick off Meeting of LIGHT3D: Laser and Other Lighting Technologies in Barcelona

Mar 1, 2020

On 6th March 2020, the project “LIGHT3D: Laser and Other Lighting Technologies”* will gathered its partners LEITAT, ICIQ, IREC, CIMNE and UPC (IMEM) in the Kick off Meeting at the CIM Foundation's facilities, coordinators of the group Base3D. The project Light3D will develop stimulation material forming systems by applying energy from radiated light emission. This will be applicable to plastic and/or metal materials.

The ultimate goal of Base3D group is to promote additive manufacturing technologies through a process of technological maturation and to push as much as possible to achieve their tangible implantation in the industry, operating theaters, companies and Catalan classrooms.

There are different subprojects that are part of Base3D: P1-Light3D: Technologies of laser and other light; P2-Fus3D: Technologies for deposition of semi-diffused material; P3-Ink3D: Technologies for the deposition of continuous inks; and P4-Hybri3D: Technologies for multimaterial hybridization.

These four subprojects will create the basis for the future 3D industry in Catalonia through the development of technology in the 3D printing value chain. This base will be generated through research and development in materials, simulation, design and development of prototypes, and testing and evaluation in laboratory and industrial environments.

*This project is co-financed by the European Union Regional Development Fund within the framework of the FEDER Operational Program of Catalonia 2014-2020.federSecretaria d'Universitats i Recerca
