CIMNE presence at TECNOEXPO Viladecans

Nov 29, 2022

Last friday 25th November, 2022, CIMNE participated in the TECNOEXPO Viladecans. The centre was present at different demonstration and innovation project presentation spaces. This event was mainly addressed to municipalities, companies of the territory and its administrations. This day also counted with a previous session addressed to Innodelta participants, an Specialization and Competitiveness Project by the Government of Catalonia in which CIMNE takes part. In the session, addressed to the partnership, the IoT & AI Lab was presented by José García Tierno, member of the laboratories InnoDelta network, who described its spaces and activities.

CIMNE focused its presence on three very representative lines of work of its technology transfer activities, such as:

  • Applications of Deep Learning and Computer Vision for: (a) land management, linked to the PIKSEL project for the Government of Catalonia, for land modelling and monitoring; (b) the prevention of occupational risks, reviewing the use of individual protection equipment; and (c) to aid diagnosis and rehabilitation procedures for physical therapists. The demonstrator space and the explanatory presentation were in charge of Alberto Burgos and Ferran Arrufat;

  • Use of extended reality technologies and videogames to facilitate the creation of training materials that are more appropriate to current environmental, economic, social and technological challenges, as well as the heavily digitized profile of society, with a virtual reality demonstrator and presentation by Mª Jesús Bopp, Felipe Muñoz and Javier Mora;

  • A tour of the products and services of the company Oktics, a CIMNE spin off with strong application activity for city councils in digital signage and modernization of municipal services, such as facilitating citizen access to historical heritage, digitalization of the cemetery or campaigns awareness and information via the citizen's keychain, with demonstrators and presentation by Sergio Otero and Sergio del Tell;

Several of its undergraduate students at CIMNE who are doing their final work on these same technologies, Daniel Salinas, Aida Padilla and Eric Grau, participated actively in the demonstrations.

The VIE space in Viladecans has the vocation of promoting local companies, connecting them and disseminating all the digital solutions that they have developed and that are useful within the territory itself. The network promotes also the creation of a whole chain of experts in digitization process for organizations, from the diagnosis to identify needs and expected impact, to the action plan, implementation support and financing.

The CIMNE technology transfer division, in charge of Mr. Jordi Jiménez, is integrated into this scheme to present all the science and technology developed by the centre, so that it can serve as levers for the centre's innovation and development of the entrepreneurship for the municipalities.
