CIMNE participates in the Day of research and development organized by the Phillipe Cousteau Foundation

In October, the fishing sector gathered in Asturias (Spain) to celebrate a Day of research and development organized by the Phillipe Cousteau Foundation.

The general director for fishing of the Asturian Government, Francisco González, reflected on the importance of development in a sector that demands progress: “We have various problems nowadays. There are some related with the lack of quotes in a system of capture limitations, and in the selling prices of fish. We have also problems to convert the fishing in an attractive activity for the next generations. We must advance in safety on board ships, habitability and comfort, connectivity with land, so that there is no family uprooting”.

Experts come from different parts of the country (Madrid, Barcelona o Galicia) has also participates in the event. Jordi Jiménez, CEO of CIMNE ICT, and Jesús Carbajosa, CIMNE R&D Project Coordinator; participated in this Day giving a talk about how R&D and technology transfer can help to fishing sector. CIMNE representatives also signed a framework collaboration agreement between Phillipe Cousteau Foundation and CIMNE. The event was attended by the Mayor of Carreño (Asturias), Amelia Fernández López, the general director for fishing of the Asturian Government, Francisco González, among other authorithies.
