Successful CIMNE Christmas Toast Event

CIMNE celebrated on 21st December 2020 its traditional Christmas Toast. In this occasion, the event was held online due to Covid crisis. Despite this, the virtual event brought together some hundred participants, including representatives of the governing institutions of CIMNE, researchers and administrative staff of the centre.

The meeting was opened by Eugenio Oñate, Director General of CIMNE who welcomed all participants and expressed his best wishes for Christmas and the New Year 2021.

Several representatives of the Government of Catalonia and the Technical University of Catalonia (UPC · BarcelonaTech) expressed their greetings to CIMNE and the CIMNE community during the Christmas Toast session. The General Secretary of the Ministry of Territory and Sustainability of the Government, Ferran Falcó, highlighted that “CIMNE is oriented to results and to make progress in engineering sciences with rigor and perseverance”. Joan Pallarès, Director General for Research of the Government of Catalonia emphasized that CIMNE “continues to do basic research at the highest level and knows how to transfer to industry and give value to its research”. Lluís Rovira, Director of CERCA, said that “CIMNE is a balance between a classical research centre and a pioneer centre in knowledge transfer”.

Christmas Toast

Luca Pelà, Vice-rector of the Technical University of Catalonia; Esther Real, Director of the School of Civil Engineering; and Pedro Díez, Scientific Director of CIMNE were the academic representatives in the event. All of them spoke about their personal and institutional relationship with the centre. Anna Font, Managing Director, conducted the Toast session that ended with a display of a Christmas Toast video with the participation of researchers and administrative staff of the centre.
