Xavier Oliver and Rogelio Ortigosa, awarded in the last edition of SEMNI awards

SEMNI has announced the winners of the latest edition of its awards. Xavier Oliver, leader of the CIMNE research group Computational Design & Analysis of Engineering Metamaterials has been awarded with the SEMNI O. C. Zienkiewicz Award, which recognizes its high scientific level. “This has led him to be an international figure in his field, but also, and notably, for his role as a mentor to new generations of top-level researchers and for his continued service to SEMNI”, ensures the institution.

Rogelio Ortigosa, co-leader of the Aula ETSINO CIMNE, has been the winner of the Juan Carlos Simó 2023 Award which is also granted by this organization.

According to the evaluation committee, the prize is awarded for his “solid and coherent career of this young researcher, who presents a notable scientific production in the field of electroactive materials, including significant contributions in aspects as varied as the theoretical and mathematical foundations of material models in large deformations, the development of numerical algorithms and their application to the design, optimization and control of such systems”.
