Professor Matsumoto visits CIMNE

On July 8th 2023 Professor Yoichiro Matsumoto visited CIMNE accompanied of Ms. Kana Asano, Science and Technology Researcher from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan.

Professor Matsumoto is a Professor Emeritus at the University of Tokyo and Science and Technology Advisor for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan. He is also a recognised international scientist in the fields of mechanical engineering and computational mechanics.

Ms. Asano is a Fellow of the Science Diplomacy Group in the Centre for Research and Development Strategy of the Science and Technology Agency of Japan

The participants of the meeting from CIMNE side at the meeting were Profs. Javier Bonet, CIMNE director; Gabriel Bugeda, director of Institutional Relations; and Eugenio Oñate, former director and founder of CIMNE.

The meeting was focussed on exploring opportunities for cooperation between Japanese scientific institutions and CIMNE. The possibility that CIMNE could act as a host institution for Japanese scientists in the field of Computational Mechanics was also discussed.

During his visit, Matsumoto participated as a speaker in the International Forum on Science Diplomacy held on July 8th at Llotja del Mar in Barcelona.
