Superblocks and AVs in Barcelona

Sep 19, 2023

The researcher from the CENIT Group for Innovation in Multimodal Transport at CIMNE, Samra Sarwar, has published the article “Analysis of superblocks during the transition phase from traditional vehicles to a fully automated vehicle environment: A case study of Barcelona City” in the scientific journal “Transportation Engineering”, edited by Elsevier.

Avs and superblocks

This research tackles these crucial questions:

  1. How do traffic flow parameters change by implementing the optimally located superblocks in the environment of automated vehicles (AVs)?
  2. How do superblocks and AVs affect the costs and benefits analysis perspective in terms of total generalized travel cost?”.

This research has been funded with Severo Ochoa research funds.
