The Fifth International Conference on Simulation for Additive Manufacturing

???? Pavia, Italy

???? 9-11 September 2025

The Fifth International Conference on Simulation for Additive Manufacturing (SIM-AM 2025) will take place in Pavia, Italy from 9 to 11 September 2025.

This conference focuses on the challenges AM poses for numerical simulation, computational modeling, and design optimization. The multi-physics, multi-scale nature of AM processes—encompassing mechanical, thermal, and phase-change phenomena across wide spatial and temporal scales—demands advanced approaches for effective product and process design.

Sim-AM 2025 aims to bring together researchers and practitioners to share breakthroughs in AM process simulation, design for AM, topology optimization, novel materials, experimental validation, and industrial applications.

Key Topics:

  • AM process modeling and simulation
  • Topology optimization and design strategies
  • New alloys and materials for AM
  • Scale bridging and characterization techniques
  • Process-structure-property-performance relationships

  • Fatigue and durability of AM components
  • Innovative measurement and data-driven methods
  • Applications in civil engineering, bioprinting, and medicine

The call for abstracts will be open for contributors to submit their proposals until May 5, 2025. Oral contributions will last 20 minutes, including Q&A.

Abstracts shall be written following the Word or Latex template available here.

Abstracts can be submitted here.

Important dates

Abstract submission deadline May 5, 2025

Conference Chairs

  • Prof. Paul Steinmann (University of Glasgow, UK / University of Erlangen-Nuremberg, Germany)
