Particles Course 2020

Due to Covid-19 outbreak, the PARTICLES COURSE 2020 was postponed to 2021. The congress will take place on 2-3 October 2021 in Hamburg (Germany).

The course aims at giving an overview of the theory and applications of the most used particle methods. With Particle Methods we refer to those numerical methodologies using the concept of particles either to carry the information of the deforming continuum, such as the Material Point Method (MPM), Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics (SPH), and the Particle Finite Element Method (PFEM), or to represent computationally real physical particles, like in the Discrete Element Method (DEM).

The course will give a detailed presentation of the theoretical bases and implementation aspects of the mentioned methods. Other particle methods, like PFEM-2, Lattice-Boltzmann Method (LBM), Element Free Galerkin Method (EFGM), and Reproducing Kernel Particle Method (RKPM) will be also described.
