Liveable Cities Singapore & Casa Asia Agreement

Jun 1, 2022

In April, Cenit signed a research collaboration agreement with the Center for Liveable Cities of Singapore and Casa Asia. It provides a great opportunity to share experiences between Barcelona and Singapore in the field of mobility.

TOWARDS SUSTAINABLE MOBILITY LESSONS FOR SINGAPORE AND BARCELONA

RESEARCH OBJECTIVES

  • Highlight strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats in Singapore and Barcelona’s mobility systems.

  • Compare sustainable mobility initiatives and their success in achieving sustainability (e.g., Singapore’s road repurposing vs Barcelona’s superblock scheme, public transport systems, car-lite initiatives, freight distribution and logistics management, public response and behaviour changes).

  • Identify key lessons and strategies for more future-ready and sustainable mobility systems for Singapore and Barcelona.

RESEARCH QUESTIONS

  • What are the existing and future challenges that Barcelona and Singapore should prepare for in their mobility systems?

  • What limitations are there to achieving greater, long-term sustainability?

  • What key lessons for both cities can be learned from the case studies?

  • What are the potential strategies and recommendations for mobility systems in Barcelona and Singapore to make them more future-ready and sustainable?

POTENTIAL OUTPUTS

  • Deep dive case studies and comparisons of different cities’ mobility systems.
  • Internal insights to circulate within government to make recommendations for Singapore to achieve greater sustainability in mobility
  • Public Op-ed, from Insights Piece
  • Publication on Sustainable Mobility
