International Day of Women and Girls in Science

Every year, on 11 February, takes place the International Day of Women & Girls in Science. This year, the global edition of the Day promoted by the United Nations arrives to its 8th edition with the theme “Bringing communities Forward for sustainable and equitable development”. It aims at building links between the International Community and women in science through linking their knowledge and expertise and its applications in a systematic and a critical way for the 2030 agenda and its 17 global goals. 

Let's celebrate 11F!

The Barcelona Biomedical Research Park proposal consist of joining a Wikimarathon, which will take place on 13 February, in a hybrid mode. The participants will edit Wikipedia entries, by creating biographies of women scientists, in any language and discipline.

The #100tífiques initiative celebrates this year its 5th edition. It is promoted by the FCRI and the BIST and consists on simultaneous talks given by scientist women in schools throughout Catalonia (6th grade primary and 1st ESO students) and a meet-up of women scientists (from both public and private system) previous to the simultaneous talks.

The 5th Can Ruti Women in Science Symposium is celebrating 5 years off promoting activities to inform members of its research community on issues related to gender equality in research institutions and the gender dimension in research. The main topic of this 5th edition is “Integrating Intersectionality and Gender Perspective in Research” and experts in the field we will be joined it.

The Higher Council for Scientific Research (CSIC) celebrates the International Day of Women and Girls in Science with numerous initiatives at the hands of researchers who publicize the role of women in science and technology. All of them have the purpose of disseminating the work of women scientists and showing female references in science of yesterday and today, with particular attention to the teaching community and students of all stages of learning.
