Ferran Falcó, new Vice-President of CIMNE

Mr. Ferran Falcó has been recently appointed as the new Vice-President of CIMNE. He will replace Professor Eugenio Oñate in this position that he held since the start-up of CIMNE in 1987.

This appointment completes the reorganization of the top managing positions of CIMNE, initiated with the selection of Professor Javier Bonet as the new Director of CIMNE, starting on May 2022.

Prof. Oñate will continue his activity in CIMNE as the Head of the Structural Mechanics Group and the Scientific Director of the Severo Programme of Excelence.

Mr. Ferran Falcó has held several relevant positions in the administration of Catalonia at local and government levels. The last one was as a Secretary General of the Ministry of Territory of the Catalonian Goverment in the period 2016-2021. In this period, he lead the affiliation of CIMNE to this Ministry (where CIMNE was originally affiliated in 1987) and has been the driving force behind many initiatives supporting research and innovation in CIMNE, such as the definition of the four-year contract to support CIMNE activities with financial support from the Catalonian Government. He is currently head of the governing council of CIMNE Tecnologia SAU, company responsible for managing the participation of CIMNE in different spin-off companies and other technology transfer activities.

Mr. Ferran Falcó has a degree in Modern History from the University of Barcelona, ​​a Master degree in communication and new technologies from the Abat Oliba CEU University, and several postgraduate degrees, among them one in political and electoral communication from the Autonomous University of Barcelona. He has also a diploma in strategic direction of communication and managerial functions in public administrations by the prestigious business school ESADE. His current professional activity is linked to the communication sector, as managing the area of public affairs in a private company based in Madrid, Barcelona, Lisbon and Seville.
