CIMNE’s Innovation Unit in Building, Energy, and Environment (BEE Group) is hosting an open workshop on Innovative Tools for Energy Communities as part of EKATE+ Project, an international initiative aimed at upholding cross-border energy communities and shared electromobility and new flexibility loads.
Attendees will familiarize themselves with the tools and strategies developed within the project by CIMNE, ESTIA, and EHU and learn hands-on solutions and best practices for energy communities.

About EKATE+
The EKATE+ project advances the digitalisation and optimisation of Renewable Energy Communities (RECs) across the Spain–France cross‑border region. It responds to the rapid growth of photovoltaic self‑consumption systems and the emerging opportunities for shared energy models, which empower citizens but require sophisticated tools and coordinated support networkscimne.com. EKATE+ develops and pilots advanced digital technologies based on Artificial Intelligence, Digital Twins and IoT to improve the management of RECs integrating distributed generation, electric and thermal storage, e‑mobility systems and other flexible loads. The initiative is carried out by a publicprivate consortium of six partners from four regions—Basque Country, NouvelleAquitaine, Occitanie and Catalonia—supported by four associated entities. This will help transfer results to more than 50 SMEs, research centres, universities, and at least ten public institutions involved in energy-related policies. Cross‑border cooperation strengthens regulatory understanding and enhances technology transfer throughout the POCTEFA territory
Funding
The project “EKATE+: Digitization and optimization of Renewable Energy Communities in the Spain-France cross-border area, using energy storage technologies and shared electromobility systems and new flexible loads” has been 65% co-financed by the European Union through the Interreg VI-A Spain-France-Andorra Program (POCTEFA 2021-2027).
