Buildair installs an inflatable hangar for MRO tasks in the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport

Feb 16, 2021

Buildair, a spin-off company of CIMNE, is setting an inflatable hangar for the company GMR Aero Technic (GAT), a leading Airframe Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul facility based at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, Hyderabad, India.

The structure has a covered dimensions of 45.5 x 62 meters, making it capable of accommodating the Airbus A32X jacked fleet for MRO aeronautical maintenance tasks.

The hangar incorporates important technical improvements in the internal sealing of the tubes (airtight technology developed by Buildair), significantly reducing electricity consumption and improving the frontal closure of vertical tubes. The technology, developed by Buildair and unique in the world, achieves greater efficiency in opening and operating time.

Buildair has developed a business line to supply all the facilities for the operation of its hangars and, in this case, it has offered a «turnkey» solution in which the interior facilities necessary for the operation are also supplied: lighting, firefighting, air conditioning and low voltage supply.

The hangar is in the final assembly process and installation of the interior facilities. The assembly time for this hangar is just over two weeks, so it is expected to come into operation at the end of February, once it has the corresponding approvals from the Aeronautical authorities.
