SuPreAM: In search of optimum surface integrity for additive manufacturing implementation

oct. 16, 2023

CIMNE participates in the SuPreAM partnership. This is an EU-funded project to develop and improve the performance and capabilities of a predictive simulation model of finishing operations in steel Additive Manufacturing (AM).

It integrates the influence of steels, manufacturing technologies and machining strategies in the development of predictive models that represent a step forward in the identification of the main critical parameters affecting surface integrity.

Supream

SuPreAM aims to optimise the surface integrity of additive manufactured and machined steel components and to reduce the manufacturing costs of the steel industry by minimising material waste and reducing the number of rework loops during finishing operations.

The excellence of SuPreAM is based on the integration of all the factors that affect the generation of surface integrity on additive manufactured parts, in order to provide machining strategy solutions in the design phase, prior to part finishing, avoiding the generation of scrap, with the aim of producing defect-free components.
