ABSTRACT

In this talk, Dr. Gebhardt will present some of the research he carried out in the last few years within computational structural analysis, concretely on slender structures as well as their interaction with surrounding flows. In the first part, he will focus on selected numerical methods designed to preserve some invariance laws that are essential to produce physically meaningful results. In the second part, he will focus on the systematic application of such numerical methods to explore the mechanical behaviour of different slender structures that are relevant in engineering.

SPEAKER CV

Dr GebhardtDr. Cristian Guillermo Gebhardt is a Full Professor at the Geophysical Institute, Universitetet i Bergen, Norway, specializing in offshore wind energy. With dual Argentine and German nationalities, he has a robust academic background, including a habilitation in Statics and Dynamics and a Doctorate in Engineering Science. His research interests lie in data-driven structural analysis, computational mechanics, and wind energy. Dr. Gebhardt has received numerous awards, including the Consolidator Grant from the European Research Council. He has a significant teaching and research career, with various publications and contributions to the field of wind energy and computational mechanics.
