Abstract
The project demonstrates by pilot projects that EMPOWERMENT of users is the key to achieving higher energy performance in residential buildings when combined with integral refurbishment, use of renewable energy sources and ICT. The results will be capitalised in the context of the 2 imminent challenges faced by the sector: energy certification and the deployment of smart metering technologies. This will ensure that these 2 challenging changes are exploited for MED region development.
