CIMNE project to bring digital twins to industry wins BSC Innovation Journey Award

Dic 14, 2023

SimTwins, a collaborative initiative developed by CIMNE to improve the future of industries through digital twins, has won the first prize in the Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC) Innovation Journey award.

The prize, presented yesterday to Sebastian Ares, Rubén Zorilla, Carles Roig and Professor Riccardo Rossi from the Kratos Multiphysics Group as part of Innovation Journey programme’s Demo Day, recognises the team’s pioneering work in advancing digital twin technology and its applications in industry.

The SimTwins project focuses on the integration of computational mechanics with machine learning to create highly accurate digital replicas of physical systems, improving predictive capabilities and operational efficiency in various industries.

As part of the award, the researchers will have direct access to a 3-month pre-acceleration programme at Barcelona Activa, which will facilitate SimTwins' access to market and commercialisation opportunities.

The Innovation Journey initiative is a two-month workshop series that provides researchers with tailored tools and knowledge to take technology beyond academia. The seven-session programme equips researchers from the X4HPC network ─of which CIMNE is a member─ with an entrepreneurial mindset through theoretical lectures, interactive sessions and external visits to companies, entrepreneurs, and investors.

The Innovation Journey programme is organised by the BSC and supported by the X4HPC R+D+I Network, the Department of Universities and Research of the Catalan Government and the Catalan Agency for the Management of University and Research Grants (AGAUR).
