Gilbert heads the socio-economics research group. His research interests include financial capability, systemic risk in financial markets, and agent-based modelling and methodology. For several years he worked in fixed income research at Salmon Brothers, a U.S. investment bank. Prior to that, he conducted research in applied mathematics at the Oxford University Computing Lab. Gilbert has a degree in aeronautical and aerospace engineering from the University of Stuttgart. He collaborates with IAFI (Investigació en Anàlisi Financera i de la Incertesa) at the University of Barcelona on investigating the philosophical and methodological foundations of finance.
