Abstract The aim of the STEDI best practice project is to demonstrate the benefits of the creation of a new Application Service Provider model in the architecture, engineering and construction (AEC) sector. The importance of e-work in the construction sector is growing exponentially largely because of the the possibilities of internet for interchange of data related to the design process. Despite all these possibilities is a fact that web-computing is at its infancy in the construction sector. The need for providing the construction sector with modern IT tools for this purpose is an urgent priority in Europe. The webcomputing ASP system to be demonstrated in this project will represent a clear break-through for engineering and architects in Europe. Two numerical codes related with thermal building simulation will be coupled, adapted and simplified in order to use them like remote simulating applications.
