CV Dr. Riccardo Rossi is a Civil Engineer from the University of Padova (2001). He obtained his PhD at the University of Bologna in 2005. He is currently a tenure-track lecturer (Prof. Lector) at the UPC, BarcelonaTech and a Full Research Professor at CIMNE, where he works as affiliates scientist since 2005.

During his career he collaborated actively both in the field of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and in Computational Structural Mechanics (CSD). He is one of the main developers of the general-purpose code “Kratos” where he is one of the responsibles of the CFD part and of the “StructuralMechanics” solver.

To date he published 40 indexed JCR papers, 6 book chapters as well as 6 Monographes. He co-tutored 6 PhD students and more than 20 master-level theses. In 2013 he delivered a plenary lecture at the “Membranes” conference and numerous invited lectures and courses over the years. To date he has an h-factor of 12 (Scopus) or 17 (Google Scholar)

In 2013 he was awarded the “Juan Carlos Simó young investigator award”. He was awarded twice (in 2008 and 2014) an outstanding paper award. His PhD thesis was selected by AIMETA/GIMC as finalist for Italy in the ECCOMAS best PhD in Europe. One of his former PhD students, Dr. Antonia Larese, was awarded a “Special doctoral Award” by the UPC.

As of today he has a 10 years of teaching experience in undergraduate courses:
-Strength of Materials and Structures (2012- to date – UPC – 6 ECTS)
- Mechanics (2008- to date – UPC - 9ECTS)
- Elasticity and strength of materials (2006-2007 - UPC)
Since 2012 he delivers a course on “FSI with open source software” at postgraduate level at the Technical University of Munich (TUM - 5ECTS).

Dr. Rossi was founder member of the “Serbian Association for Computational Mechanics”. Since 2011, he is member of the Executive Committee of SEMNI (Spanish association for Numerical Methods in Engineering).

He is member of the technical advisory panel of the conferences in the series “Coupled”, “Particles” “Membranes” and “CMN”, and he acted as member of the scientific board of the conference CWE2014. He participated as member of the “local organizing committee” to the organization of the World Congress in Computational Mechanics (WCCM XI).

He acted as Principal Investigator (PI) in the National Projects XPRES and EDAMS, and as co-PI in the project PARFLOW. He was responsible for CFD in the EU-funded projects “uLites” and “NUMEXAS”, and lead the development of the CFD solver which is now at the basis of the commercial solver “Click2Cast” owned by the company Altair.
