| CV | Karen Casallas has a degree in Geological Engineering by the Instituto Politécnico Nacional (IPN), Mexico and a Master's degree in Earth Sciences with a specialization in Applied Geophysics by the Centro de Investigación Científica y de Educación Superior de Ensenada (CICESE), Mexico. Her research focuses on subsurface exploration and multidisciplinary project development. Her undergraduate thesis focused on well log interpretation and 3D modeling of petrophysical properties. In 2019, she finished her master's degree, during which she developed her thesis project focused on the geological and geophysical characterization of one of the main geothermal fields in Mexico. Karen has experience in developing renewable energy projects, programming, geographic information systems and science outreach. Currently, Karen is working on her Ph.D. in Civil Engineering at CIMNE, applying finite element methods for solid-pore fluid couple problems in multi-fractured porous media. |
