ABSTRACT<\/h5>\n

The development of the infrastructure of the Port of Barcelona is in the process of completion. Planning efforts should focus, from now on, on making this infrastructure as profitable as possible. The expansion of various port infrastructures has been planned, but are they really necessary taking into account the trends and future scenarios that are looming?<\/strong><\/p>\n

In this context, it is of special interest to analyze future trends, in their broadest sense, and their impact on the port sector in general and in the Port of Barcelona in particular<\/strong>, from a scientific perspective, given that there are aspects, such as, for example, deglobalization caused by 3D printing (Z Chen, 2015), the development of the One Belt One Road strategy of the Chinese Government (J. Torrent, 2019), alliances between shipping companies and the consolidation of the market (Slack et al. 2002), new forms of autonomous transport, e-commerce, etc. that can have a significant impact on long-term port demand and on the operation and rationale of ports.<\/p>\n

SPEAKER CV<\/h5>\n

Javier Garrido is a Civil, Canal and Port Engineer from the Technical University of Catalonia (BarcelonaTech)<\/strong>. He has a double degree with the École des Ingénieurs de la Ville de Paris, a higher school specialized in transport and in the socioeconomic evaluation of transport infrastructure. He has collaborated in the execution of the Transport Infrastructure Assessment System (SAIT) of the Government of Catalonia.<\/p>\n

Currently, he is a researcher at CENIT, Group for Innovation in Multimodal Transport of CIMNE<\/strong>, and he is doing a PhD in collaboration with the Port of Barcelona<\/strong> on the future of ports: Port Vision 2040. He collaborates with the Department of Strategy and Innovation to define the strategic lines of the Port of Barcelona for 2040 with the aim of guaranteeing the social, economic and environmental sustainability of port actions.<\/p>\n
