Time:&nbsp;15h | UPC Campus Nord (C1 building, 116 conference room)<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/S_n5PEvWksg\"><button class=\"btn btn-default\">See Coffee Talk on Youtube<\/button><\/a><\/p>\n<h5 class=\"cimne blue-background\" style=\"padding-left: 15px;float: none\">ABSTRACT<\/h5>\n<p>The National Survey on Drug, Alcohol and Tobacco, 2016\/2017, notes that 15.6 million Mexicans are active smokers and, by 2030, expect the death of 8 million cancers of the larynx or lung. Therefore, the <strong>World Health Organization (WHO) recommends detecting precancerous lesions of the larynx<\/strong>. This is possible, as they are characterized by a biomarker pattern manifested by the alteration of the biomechanical interpretation of the vocal cords, regardless of the sex and age of the smoker. Three machine learning methods: neural networks, Gaussian networks, and decision tree will be evaluated to determine the method that best solves the problem of detecting patterns of precancerous vocal cord injury biomarkers.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The coffee talk will be given in Spanish.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cimne.com\/cvdata\/cntr2\/spc2\/dtos\/mdia\/News\/foto-cafe-tabacco.jpg\" alt=\"Foto cafe\" width=\"768\" \/><\/p>\n<h5 class=\"cimne blue-background\" style=\"padding-left: 15px;float: none\">SPEAKER CV<\/h5>\n<p><strong>X&oacute;chitl Siordia-V&aacute;squez<\/strong> is an electronics and communications engineer, with a master&#039;s degree in engineering sciences in microelectronics, and a Ph.D. from the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ciateq.mx\/index.php\/english.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"CIATEQ Center for Advanced Technology\">CIATEQ Center for Advanced Technology<\/a><\/strong> with the thesis (read in 2019)<i>Biomarker Modeling for the detection of pathological patterns of vocal timbre in Mexican smokers<\/i>. Her field of knowledge focuses on complex systems, with a special dedication to the reasoned introduction of biomimetic patterns in the entire context of his research at the Universidad Veracruzana. She having especially dedicated efforts to the field of health.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Biomimetic or biomimicry<\/strong> is the imitation of models, systems or elements of nature applied to our technology.
