She is also an external lecturer at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.santafe.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"Santa Fe Institute\"><strong>Santa Fe Institute<\/strong><\/a>. At the University of Texas she holds the W. A. \u00abTex\u00bb Moncrief, Jr. Chair in Simulation-Based Engineering and Science and the Peter O&#039;Donnell, Jr. Centennial Chair in Computer Information Systems. Before joining the Oden Institute in 2018, she spent 17 years as a professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where she served as founding co-director of the MIT Center for Computational Engineering and deputy director of the <a href=\"https:\/\/catalog.mit.edu\/schools\/engineering\/aeronautics-astronautics\/\" title=\"MIT\"><strong>MIT Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics<\/strong><\/a>. Before joining the MIT faculty, she worked at Boeing Phantom Works in the combined-wing aircraft design group.
