In this study, a novel data-driven methodology is proposed for the measurement and verification of energy efficiency savings, with special focus on commercial buildings and facilities.<\/p>\n<p>The publication <a href=\"https:\/\/cdnsciencepub.com\/doi\/abs\/10.1139\/cgj-2021-0087\"><strong>&ldquo;Exploring the mechanical response of low-carbon soil improvement mixtures&rdquo;<\/strong> <\/a>has been published in August 2021 on the<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cgs.ca\/canadian-geotechnical-journal.php\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\" Canadian Geotechnical Journal\"> Canadian Geotechnical Journal<\/a><\/strong>. Alessandro Fraccica is the main author of this paper, a collaboration between CIMNE, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.upc.edu\/en\" title=\"UPC\"><strong>Technical University of Catalonia<\/strong><\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mbcc-group.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"MBBC group\"><strong>MBCC Group<\/strong><\/a>. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.researchgate.net\/profile\/Giovanni-Spagnoli-2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"Giovanni Spagnoli\"><strong>Giovanni Spagnoli<\/strong><\/a>, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cimne.com\/sgp\/dir\/Profile.aspx?id=562\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"Enrique E. The first one is a work published on&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.springer.com\/journal\/11831\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"Archives of Computational Methods in Engineering\"><strong><i>Archives of Computational Methods in Engineering<\/i><\/strong><\/a> which provides an exhaustive <strong>comparison of some representative families of topology optimization methods for 3D structural optimization<\/strong>, such as the Solid Isotropic Material with Penalization (SIMP), the Level-set, the Bidirectional Evolutionary Structural Optimization (BESO), and the Variational Topology Optimization (VARTOP) methods. The second, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencedirect.com\/science\/article\/abs\/pii\/S2352431621001152#!\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"&ldquo;Multiresonant Layered Acoustic Metamaterial (MLAM) solution for broadband low-frequency noise attenuation through double-peak sound transmission loss response&rdquo; \">&ldquo;Multiresonant Layered Acoustic Metamaterial (MLAM) solution for broadband low-frequency noise attenuation through double-peak sound transmission loss response&rdquo;<\/a><\/strong>, published in<strong>&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencedirect.com\/science\/journal\/23524316\"><em>Extreme Mechanics Letters<\/em><\/a><\/strong> addresses the problem of <strong>noise control and attenuation<\/strong>. It is of interest in a broad range of applications, especially in the low-frequency range, below 1000&nbsp;Hz. Acoustic metamaterials allow us to tackle this problem with solutions that do not necessarily rely on high amounts of mass, however most of them still present two major challenges: they rely on complex structures making them difficult to manufacture, and their attenuating capabilities are limited to narrow frequency bandwidths.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencedirect.com\/science\/article\/abs\/pii\/S0360132321003140\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"Numerical prediction of the distribution of black carbon in a street canyon using a semi-Lagrangian finite element formulation\"><strong>&ldquo;Numerical prediction of the distribution of black carbon in a street canyon using a semi-Lagrangian finite element formulation&rdquo;<\/strong><\/a> is a cooperation between two <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ciencia.gob.es\/site-web\/en\/Organismos-y-Centros\/Centros-y-Unidades-de-Excelencia.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"Severo Ochoa\"><strong>Severo Ochoa Centres of Excellence<\/strong><\/a>, CIMNE and <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.idaea.csic.es\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"IDAEA \">IDAEA<\/a><\/strong>, published in journal <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencedirect.com\/journal\/building-and-environment\"><strong>Building and Environment<\/strong><\/a>. It presents <strong>a procedure for coupling the fluid and transport equations to model the distribution of a pollutant in a street canyon<\/strong>, in this case, black carbon (BC). The fluid flow is calculated with a stabilized finite element method using the Quasi-Static Variational Multiscale (QS-VMS) technique.<\/p>\n<p>The<strong> <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cimne.com\/space\/1149\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\" Structural Mechanics Group\"><strong>Structural Mechanics Group<\/strong><\/a> of CIMNE has also published a paper in the journal <a href=\"https:\/\/www.journals.elsevier.com\/computer-methods-in-applied-mechanics-and-engineering\" title=\"Computer methods\"><strong>Computer Methods in Applied Mechanics and Engineering<\/strong><\/a> titled <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencedirect.com\/science\/article\/abs\/pii\/S0045782521001432\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"Semi-Lagrangian formulation for the advection&ndash;diffusion&ndash;absorption equation\">&ldquo;Semi-Lagrangian formulation for the advection&ndash;diffusion&ndash;absorption equation&rdquo;<\/a><\/strong>.
