Success in the fight against new outbreaks depends not only on the efficiency of the tests used, but also on the cost,<strong> time elapsed and the number of tests that can be done massively<\/strong>. The proposal of the study is to provide a solution to this challenge. The main objective is to<strong> design a freely available, quick and efficient methodology for the automatic detection of COVID-19 in raw audio files.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cimne.com\/cvdata\/cntr2\/spc2\/dtos\/mdia\/News\/1-s2.0-S1746809421007722-gr4.jpg\" alt=\" Automatic identification of cough samples in a raw audio file.\" style=\"padding-bottom: 5px\" width=\"703\" height=\"667\" \/><br \/><span class=\"cimne green\">Automatic identification of cough samples in a raw audio file<\/span><\/p>\n<p>It is based on <strong>automated extraction of time-frequency cough features and selection of the more significant ones to be used to diagnose COVID-19 using a supervised machine learning algorithm.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Random Forest has performed better than the other models analysed in this study.<\/strong> An accuracy close to 90% was obtained.<\/p>\n<p><strong>This study demonstrates the feasibility of the automatic diagnose of COVID-19 from coughs<\/strong>, and its applicability to detecting new outbreaks.<\/p>\n<p><button class=\"btn btn-default\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencedirect.com\/science\/article\/pii\/S1746809421007722?via%3Dihub#f0020\">Read full article<\/a><\/button><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Alberto Tena, member of the research team of the Information and Communication Technologies&nbsp;group of CIMNE, has just published an article in the journal&nbsp;Biomedical Signal Processing and Control titled \u00abAutomated detection of COVID-19 cough\u00bb.
