Currently Severo Ochoa Post Doc Trainee at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cimne.com\/3276\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"Mechanics of Electroactive Materials\"><strong>Mechanics of Electroactive Materials<\/strong><\/a> research team, David Codony&#039;s thesis is entitled <a href=\"https:\/\/upcommons.upc.edu\/handle\/2117\/347914\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"&quot;Mathematical and computational modeling of flexoelectricity at mesoscopic and atomistic scales&quot;\"><strong>\u00abMathematical and computational modeling of flexoelectricity at mesoscopic and atomistic scales\u00bb <\/strong><\/a>and was directed by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cimne.com\/sgp\/dir\/Profile.aspx?id=1885\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"Professor Irene Arias\"><strong>Professor Irene Arias<\/strong><\/a>. This thesis will also represent SEMNI in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eccomas.org\/awards\/phd-awards\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"Eccomas award\"><strong>European award granted by ECCOMAS<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<div style=\"clear: both\"><\/div>\n<p><strong><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cimne.com\/cvdata\/cntr2\/spc2\/dtos\/mdia\/News\/matteo-giacomini.png\" alt=\"Matteo Giacomini\" style=\"float: left;padding-right: 15px\" width=\"140\" height=\"auto\" \/><\/strong>On the other hand, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cimne.com\/sgp\/dir\/Profile.aspx?id=1957\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"Dr. Matteo Giacomini\"><strong>Dr. Matteo Giacomini<\/strong><\/a>, Serra Hunter assistant professor at the UPC and member of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cimne.com\/3214\/paginas\/research\/areas\/innovative-algorithms-and-hpc-techniques\/credible-data-driven-models\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"Credible data-driven models group\"><strong>Credible data-diven Models group<\/strong><\/a> at CIMNE, has been awarded the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cimne.com\/semni\/vpage\/1\/0\/premios-y-distinciones\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"Juan C. Sim&oacute; Prize\"><strong>Juan C. Sim&oacute; Prize<\/strong><\/a>. It has to be highlighted also that Matteo Giacomini occupied a Severo Ochoa Researcher position at CIMNE in 2020.<\/p>\n<p>The award ceremony will take place next September at the <a href=\"https:\/\/congress.cimne.com\/cmn2022\/frontal\/default.asp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"Numerical Methods Congress\"><strong>Numerical Methods Congress<\/strong><\/a> to be held in<strong> Las Palmas<\/strong>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A commission chaired by the president of SEMNI El&iacute;as Cueto has unanimously deliberated that the Best Thesis of the Year 2021 is the one defended by David Codony.
