Among other projects, he has visited the desalination pilot plant in which CIMNE is testing how obtaining <span>high-purity fresh water from seawater&nbsp;using renewable energy<\/span> within the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cimne.com\/sgp\/rtd\/Project.aspx?id=836\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"COOSW\"><strong>COOSW project<\/strong><\/a>. COOL STEAM is a seawater desalination system by vacuum distillation developed by the International Centre for Numerical Methods in Engineering (CIMNE).<\/p>\n<p><strong>COOSW is a cooperation project between Mexico<\/strong> (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.unam.mx\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"UNAM\"><strong>UNAM<\/strong><\/a>), the <strong>Dominican Republic (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.pucmm.edu.do\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"PUCMM\">PUCMM<\/a>),<\/strong> <strong>Germany<\/strong> <strong>(<a href=\"https:\/\/www.fraunhofer.de\/en.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"FRAUNHOFER\">FRAUNHOFER<\/a>)<\/strong> and<strong> Spain (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.uab.cat\/web\/universitat-autonoma-de-barcelona-1345467954409.html?gclid=Cj0KCQjwg_iTBhDrARIsAD3Ib5gxoymGFO4WM1gOhMhwcYfz2UJKuZIisu0be8rUAg-PIcE7v3MNGHMaAq8HEALw_wcB\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"UAB\">UAB<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.plocan.eu\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"PLOCAN\">PLOCAN<\/a>, CIMNE). <\/strong>The project is coordinated by CIMNE and PLOCAN participates as a partner. It proposes a solution that takes advantage of natural resources such as the temperature gradient of the seawater column and the energy of the waves for the desalination of seawater and the cooling of small facilities near the coast.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/jUYVxRF-07Y\" title=\"YouTube video player\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><strong>The COOSW solution combines 3 different technologies:<\/strong> a<strong> WEC<\/strong> (Wave Energy Converter), a device to obtain energy from waves that is used to pump cold seawater from the deepest layers of the ocean;
