{"id":241324,"date":"2022-09-29T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2022-09-28T22:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cimne.com\/sin-categoria\/eugenio-onate-corresponding-member-of-cuban-academy-of-sciences\/"},"modified":"2025-10-27T10:12:12","modified_gmt":"2025-10-27T09:12:12","slug":"eugenio-onate-corresponding-member-of-cuban-academy-of-sciences","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cimne.com\/es\/eugenio-onate-corresponding-member-of-cuban-academy-of-sciences\/","title":{"rendered":"Eugenio O\u00f1ate, corresponding member of Cuban Academy of Sciences"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cimne.com\/cvdata\/cntr2\/spc2\/dtos\/mdia\/News\/e-onate.jpg\" alt=\"Eugenio O&ntilde;ate\" style=\"float: left;padding-right: 15px\" width=\"250\" height=\"266\" \/>On 18th August, 2022,<strong> Prof. Eugenio O&ntilde;ate<\/strong> was elected as<strong>&nbsp;Corresponding Member of the Cuban Academy of Sciences.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Prof. O&ntilde;ate is a<strong> professor at Civil Engineering School of Universitat Polit&eacute;cnica de Catalunya (UPC)<\/strong> and founder and vicepresident of CIMNE.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The cooperation of Prof. Eugenio O&ntilde;ate with Cuba originated in 2003<\/strong> when an <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/aulas.cimne.com\/2706\/aulas-cimne#cuba\">Aula CIMNE was created in Cuba<\/a><\/strong>, at the University of las Villas under the direction of Prof. Carlos Recarey.<\/p>\n<p>Since those days CIMNE and Cuba have developed an<strong> intense cooperation through the development of joint research activities and scientific publications in cooperation with <a href=\"https:\/\/es.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Universidad_Central_de_Las_Villas\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"University of Las Villas\">University of Las Villas<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uci.cu\/en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"University of Informatic Sciences in La Habana\">University of Informatic Sciences in La Habana<\/a><\/strong> (also an Aula CIMNE since 2015). The cooperation has been recognized by several awards and distinctions of the Cuban Academy of Sciences to Prof. O&ntilde;ate and other CIMNE researchers.<\/p>\n<p>This cooperation has been supported by <strong>Dr. Jose Manuel Saborido<\/strong>, current <strong>Ministry of Higher Education of Cuba and former rector of University of Las Villas.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The other scientists of UPC elected as corresponding members of the Academia de Ciencias de Cuba last August are <strong>Prof. Eduardo Alonso<\/strong>, founder of the Group of Geomechanis at CIMNE, and <strong>Prof. Mateo Valero<\/strong>, director of the Barcelona Supercomputing Center.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On 18th August, 2022, Prof. Eugenio O&ntilde;ate was elected as&nbsp;Corresponding Member of the Cuban Academy of Sciences.
