L&#8217;aplicaci\u00f3 del m\u00e8tode dels elements finits (MEF) al problema de les bigues \u00e9s interessant per la representaci\u00f3 acad\u00e8mica de conceptes que es poden entendre f\u00e0cilment i s&#8217;apliquen en problemes m\u00e9s complexos com ara plaques i l\u00e0mines. <\/p>\n<p>El problema de flexi\u00f3 de les bigues es descriu segons la teoria cl\u00e0ssica de les bigues esveltes d&#8217;Euler Bernoulli, que disminueix l&#8217;efecte de deformaci\u00f3 per cisallament i fa \u00fas de funcions de forma de classe C1. En ess\u00e8ncia, les diverses teories de plaques difereixen, de manera similar al cas de les bigues, en els sup\u00f2sits de la rotaci\u00f3 de la normal al pla mitj\u00e0. Aix\u00ed, la teoria cl\u00e0ssica de Kirchhoff (an\u00e0loga a la teoria de bigues d&#8217;Euler Bernoulli) diu que aquestes rotacions s\u00f3n zero i la normal del pla mitj\u00e0 roman recte despr\u00e9s de la deformaci\u00f3.
