The level set discrete element method (LS-DEM) jointly uses the dynamic framework of the classical DEM and the level set method to capture arbitrary shapes. A LS-DEM model for sintering is under development. Title: Discrete Element Method (DEM) analysis of constrained powder sintering<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h5 class=\"cimne blue-background\" style=\"padding-left: 15px;float: none\">ABSTRACT &#8211; SECOND TALK<\/h5>\n<p><strong>Ceramic sintering at the particle length scale&nbsp; &#8211; In-situ and post-mortem analyses by synchrotron nano-tomography<br \/><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Ultra-high resolution capabilities at the nano-tomography beamline of the upgraded ESRF synchrotron facility have now made investigation of ceramic powders at the individual particle length-scale feasible.<\/p>\n<p>These features were taken advantage of to investigate and improve the understanding of sintering in ceramic powder systems.<\/p>\n<p>Complete 3D images were obtained with a voxel size as low as 25nm to depict particles and pores with enough details for subsequent quantitative analyses, providing us with images in the course of ceramic sintering at nano-scale for the first time.
