\"EugenioAccording to a study by the American company SciTech Strategies, Inc<\/strong><\/a> published by the scientific magazine PLOS Biology<\/strong><\/a>, Professor Eugenio Oñate,<\/a><\/strong> director of CIMNE and professor of Structural Mechanics at the School of Civil Engineering of the Technical University of Catalonia (UPC)<\/a><\/strong>, has ranked <\/strong>30th in the worldwide ranking of scientists in the Applied Mathematics field<\/strong><\/a> (a total of 15.805 authors in this field are included)<\/strong><\/a>. With a c-score of 4,109, Prof. Oñate in the first Professor of the UPC in the list, and he ranked 14.122th in the general ranking of scientists and 219th in the Spanish ranking<\/b><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

It must also to be highlighted that around 70 professors of the Technical University of Catalonia appear in this ranking<\/strong>. Prof. Eugenio Oñate, which appears with his affiliation at CIMNE, is first UPC professor in this ranking<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Group leaders and Principal Investigators at CIMNE also appear ranked with a rellevant position in the fields of Applied Mathematics<\/strong> (Professors Ramon Codina, <\/strong>51th of 15805 authors in the field; and Antonio Huerta, <\/strong>230th of 15805 authors in the field; Geological & Geomatics Engineering<\/strong> (Professors Antonio Gens, <\/strong>122nd of 44176 in the field; Eduardo Alonso<\/strong>, 123rd of 44176 in the field; and Enrique Romero, <\/strong>689th of 44176 in the field) and Environmental Engineering<\/strong> (Professor Xavier Sànchez Vila, <\/strong>768th of 42482 authors in the field).<\/p>\n

According the article “The geograhy of the 2%” [read article in Spanish]<\/a> authored by Pere Condom-Vilà<\/strong>, which analise the impact of this study, “Catalonia<\/strong> has 661 representative scientists in the list, representing 0,4% of the world and 29% of excellent Spanish researchers<\/strong>. Again, also by means of this indicator, the concentration of good Science that Catalonia represents in the state total becomes evident, 78 registered in CERCA institutions<\/strong>“.<\/p>\n
