Dear colleagues,<\/p>\n

The first item on the Agenda for today's meeting is the recognition of the directors of the CERCA centres who were founders of the centres at the time. The truth is that when I accepted Dr. Lluis Rovira's offer to say a few words on this point, my intention was simply to say goodbye to all of you.<\/p>\n

I will soon leave my position as director of CIMNE to give way to the new director. I am sure that it will be an excelent contribution to the group of directors of the CERCA centres.<\/p>\n

It is true that together with Dr. Lluis Torner (Director and founder of ICFO) we are currently the oldest representatives of the generation of founders of the CERCA centres. In my case, these days are the 35th anniversary of the foundation of CIMNE. At that time I was 34 years old. It has rained a lot since then, but honestly it seems to me that it was only yesterday.<\/p>\n

Speaking of recognition, what I want today is to express my appreciation and gratitude to all of you who are mostly the second generation of directors of CERCA centres. Gratitude for having accepted the challenge of carrying out these projects arising from the enthusiasm of a group of pioneers.<\/p>\n

If the first generation of directors has laid the foundations of the CERCA centres, making an analogy with the Catalan family business you are the ones responsible for making the business grow, metaphorically speaking. I wish you much luck.<\/p>\n

And little more. I am sure you would share with me everything I could say about the importance of a greater support to research and the CERCA centres. I know that our patrons also share this objective and that they will succeed in making it a reality.<\/p>\n

Lastly, let me tell you that for me, as I am sure for Lluis Torner and the rest of the founders of the CERCA centres, it has been a privilege to have had the opportunity to develop a professional career in research and as a university lecturer, in a way compatible with the task of shaping a new research organization project from scratch.<\/p>\n

For this reason, I am very grateful to my university, the UPC, the Generalitat of Catalonia and UNESCO, who believed in and supported the creation of CIMNE in April 1987. 35 years later, this adventure is a prestigious research center in its field, in which almost 300 people develop their life project.<\/p>\n

Dear Lluís, you remain the only representative and depositary of the memory of the founding generation of the CERCA centres. I wish you much success.<\/p>\n

And again, good luck and success to all of you and your centres that make up one of the most diverse and successful network of research centres in the world, in my opinion. Thanks to Dr. Lluis Rovira for this opportunity to address a few words.<\/p>\n

I cannot finish, in these difficult times, without wishing all of you, your centres, and the world in general, peace and health.<\/p>\n

El primer punt de l'Ordre del Dia de la reunió d'avui és el reconeixement als directors de centres CERCA que van ser en el seu moment fundadors dels centres. La veritat és que quan vaig acceptar l'oferiment del Dr. Lluís Rovira de dir unes paraules en aquest punt la meva intenció simplement era acomiadar-me de tots vosaltres.<\/p>\n

Pròximament deixaré la direcció del CIMNE per donar entrada al nou director. Estic segur que serà una bona aportació al col·lectiu de directors de Centres CERCA.<\/p>\n

És veritat que junt amb el Dr. Lluís Torner (director i fundador del ICFO) som actualment els representants més antics de la generació de fundadors de Centres CERCA. En el meu cas es compleixen aquests dies trenta-cinc anys de la fundació del CIMNE. En aquell temps jo tenia trenta-quatre anys. Ha plogut molt des de llavors, però sincerament em sembla que hagi estat ahir.<\/p>\n

Parlant de reconeixements, el que vull fer avui és deixar constància de la meva apreciació i agraïment a tots vosaltres que sou majoritàriament la segona generació de directors de centres CERCA. Agraïment per haver acceptat el repte de tirar endavant aquests projectes sorgits de l'entusiasme d'un conjunt de pioners.<\/p>\n

Si la primera generació de directors ha posat els fonaments dels centres CERCA, fent una analogia amb l'empresa familiar catalana vosaltres sou els responsables de fer créixer el negoci, metafòricament parlant. Us desitjo molta sort.<\/p>\n

I poca cosa més. Tot el que podria dir de la importància d'un suport més gran a la recerca i als centres Cerca, estic segur que ho compartiu. Em consta que els nostres patrons també ho comparteixen i que ho aconseguiran.<\/p>\n

Per acabar, vull dir-vos que per mi, com segur que pel Lluís Torner i la resta de fundadors de centres CERCA, ha estat un privilegi haver tingut l'oportunitat de desenvolupar una carrera professional en el camp de la recerca i la docència, de manera compatible amb la tasca de donar forma a un projecte d'una organització de recerca nova des del principi. Per això, estic molt agraït a la meva universitat, la UPC, a la Generalitat i a la UNESCO, que van creure i donar suport a la creació del CIMNE en abril de 1987. Trenta-cinc anys després, aquesta aventura és un centre de recerca prestigiós en el seu camp, en el que gairebé unes 300 persones despleguen el seu projecte de vida.<\/p>\n

Benvolgut amic Lluís, et quedes sol com a representant i depositari de la memòria de la generació fundacional de centres CERCA. Et desitjo molts èxits.<\/p>\n

I també de nou molta sort i èxits a tots vosaltres i als vostres centres que configuren una de les xarxes de centres de recerca més diversa i exitosa del món, en la meva opinió.<\/p>\n

Gràcies al Dr. Lluís Rovira per aquesta oportunitat de dirigir-vos unes paraules.<\/p>\n

No puc acabar, en aquests moments tan difícils sense desitjar-vos a tots vosaltres, als vostres centres i al món, en general, pau i salut.<\/p>\n

Queridos colegas,<\/p>\n

El primer punto del Orden del Día de la reunión de hoy es el reconocimiento a los directores de centros CERCA que fueron en su momento fundadores de los centros. Lo cierto es que cuando acepté el ofrecimiento del Dr. Lluís Rovira de decir unas palabras en este punto, mi intención simplemente era despedirme de todos vosotros.<\/p>\n

Próximamente dejaré la dirección del CIMNE para dar entrada al nuevo director. Estoy seguro de que será una excelente aportación al colectivo de directores de centros CERCA.<\/p>\n

Es verdad que junto al Dr. Lluís Torner (Director y fundador del ICFO) somos actualmente los representantes más antiguos de la generación de fundadores de centros CERCA. En mi caso, se cumplen estos días 35 años de la fundación de CIMNE. Por aquel entonces yo tenía 34 años. Ha llovido mucho desde entonces, pero sinceramente me parece que haya sido ayer.<\/p>\n

Hablando de reconocimientos, lo que quiero hoy es dejar constancia de mi apreciación y agradecimiento a todos vosotros que sois mayoritariamente la segunda generación de directores de centros Cerca. Agradecimiento por haber aceptado el reto de sacar adelante estos proyectos surgidos del entusiasmo de un conjunto de pioneros.<\/p>\n

Si la generación fundacional de directores ha puesto los cimientos de los centros CERCA, haciendo una analogía con la empresa familiar catalana vosotros sois los responsables de hacer crecer el negocio, metafóricamente hablando. Os deseo mucha suerte.<\/p>\n

Y poco más. Todo lo que podría decir de la importancia de un mayor apoyo a la investigación y a los centros CERCA, estoy seguro de que lo compartís. Me consta que nuestros patrones también lo comparten y que lo van a conseguir.<\/p>\n

Por último, deciros que para mí, como seguro que para Lluis Torner y el resto de fundadores de centros Cerca, ha sido un privilegio haber tenido la oportunidad de desarrollar una carrera profesional en el campo de la investigación y la docencia, de forma compatible con la tarea de dar forma a un proyecto de una organización de investigación nueva desde el principio.<\/p>\n

Por eso, estoy muy agradecido a mi universidad, la UPC, a la Generalitat ya la UNESCO, que creyeron y apoyaron la creación del CIMNE en Abril de 1987. 35 años después, esa aventura es un centro de investigación prestigioso en su campo, en el que casi unas 300 personas desarrollan su proyecto de vida.<\/p>\n

Estimado amigo Lluís, te quedas solo como representante y depositario de la memoria de la generación fundacional de centros Cerca. Te deseo muchos éxitos. Y también de nuevo mucha suerte y éxitos a todos vosotros y a vuestros centros que configuran una de las redes de centros de investigación más diversa y exitosa del mundo, en mi opinión.<\/p>\n

Gracias al Dr. Lluís Rovira por esta oportunidad de dirigiros unas palabras No puedo acabar, en estos momentos tan difíciles, sin desearos a todos vosotros, a vuestros centros, y al mundo en general, paz y salud.<\/p>\n
