His expertise is in <strong>structured low-rank approximation and completion<\/strong>, <strong>direct data-driven methods<\/strong> and <strong>system identification<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-size: 1.2em\">He obtained PhD in electrical engineering from the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kuleuven.be\/kuleuven\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"Katholieke Universiteit Leuven\">Katholieke Universiteit Leuven<\/a><\/strong> in 2005. He has been a teacher and a research in control and system theory at the<a href=\"https:\/\/www.southampton.ac.uk\/about\/faculties-schools-departments\/school-of-electronics-and-computer-science\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"school-of-electronics-and-computer-science\"><strong> School of Electronics and Computer Science (ECS)<\/strong><\/a> of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.southampton.ac.uk\/courses\/electrical-electronic-engineering-degree-beng\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"Electrical and Electronic Engineering (BEng)\"><strong>University of Southampton and the Department of Fundamental Electricity and Instrumentation (ELEC)<\/strong><\/a> of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vub.be\/nl\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"VUB\"><strong>Vrije Universiteit Brussel<\/strong><\/a>, where he has been an associate professor.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-size: 1.2em\">In 2011, he was awarded an ERC starting grant on the topic of structured low-rank approximation.
