{"id":240922,"date":"2023-12-21T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2023-12-20T23:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cimne.com\/sin-categoria\/cimne-successfully-coordinates-project-to-improve-ship-building\/"},"modified":"2025-09-22T12:06:47","modified_gmt":"2025-09-22T10:06:47","slug":"cimne-successfully-coordinates-project-to-improve-ship-building","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cimne.com\/ca\/cimne-successfully-coordinates-project-to-improve-ship-building\/","title":{"rendered":"CIMNE successfully coordinates project to improve ship building"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-size: 1.2em\">The <\/span><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.fibre4yards.eu\/\"><span style=\"font-size: 1.2em\">FIBRE4YARDS<\/span><\/a><\/strong><span style=\"font-size: 1.2em\"><strong> project<\/strong>, which aims to maintain <strong>Europe&#039;s global leadership in shipbuilding<\/strong> and ship maintenance through advanced and i<strong>nnovative fibre-reinforced polymer (FRP) manufacturing technologies<\/strong>, draw to a close with a final dissemination event in Nantes, France, on 13 December.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 1.2em\">The project, <strong>coordinated by <\/strong><\/span><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cimne.com\/\"><span style=\"font-size: 1.2em\">CIMNE<\/span><\/a><\/strong><span style=\"font-size: 1.2em\">, focused on the entire value chain of the shipyards and their ecosystem, and introduced cutting-edge technologies, including advanced manufacturing processes and materials, and digital simulations to improve shipbuilding.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 1.2em\">FIBRE4YARDS used smart and secure engineering, manufacturing, and data sharing concepts in ship production and embedded highly automated FRP production technologies to develop and validate <strong>novel digitalised engineering and analysis simulation solutions<\/strong> for small and medium length fibre-based ships.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 1.2em\">Ultimately, this European project facilitated the <strong>industrial development of the &ldquo;Shipyard 4.0&rdquo; concept<\/strong> for advanced ship production, providing guidelines for design, production, certification, and staff training to develop business plans and Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) strategies for shipyards.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cimne.com\/cvdata\/cntr2\/spc2\/dtos\/mdia\/News\/FIBRE4YARDS_Team.jpg\" alt=\"Attendants at the final dissemination event of the FIBRE4YARDS project\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-size: 1.2em\"><span class=\"cimne green\">Group photo of the FIBRE4YARDS partners<\/span><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 1.2em\"><strong>The Final Dissemination Event<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 1.2em\">Project coordinator <strong>Dr. <\/strong><\/span><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cimne.com\/sgp\/dir\/Profile.aspx?id=488\"><span style=\"font-size: 1.2em\">Xavier Mart&iacute;nez<\/span><\/a><\/strong><span style=\"font-size: 1.2em\">, from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cimne.com\/3610\/research-areas-and-groups\/computational-materials-design--analysis\/composites-and-advanced-materials-for-multifunctio\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Composites and Advanced Materials for Multifunctional Structures research group<\/a> at CIMNE, presented the project to<strong> more than 45 research and industry experts<\/strong> from the shipbuilding and naval sectors at the fourth and final dissemination event, where the European consortium partners gave their closing remarks.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 1.2em\">The first part of the dissemination event featured <strong>presentations from FIBRE4YARDS partners<\/strong>, including the introductory talk &ldquo;Defining the future of shipbuilding, presented by Dr. Mart&iacute;nez, and &ldquo;OSI4IOT: The new Shipyard 4.0&rdquo;, co-presented by Dr. <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cimne.com\/sgp\/dir\/Profile.aspx?id=408\"><span style=\"font-size: 1.2em\">Daniel Di Capua<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-size: 1.2em\">, from the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cimne.com\/space\/1149\"><span style=\"font-size: 1.2em\">Structural Mechanics research group<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-size: 1.2em\"> at CIMNE.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 1.2em\">The second part of the event took place at the IRT Jules Verne site in Nantes, France, where the full-scale demonstrator of the project was presented. <strong>This demonstrator successfully tested the innovative production technologies developed in the project<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 1.2em\">The FIBRE4YARDS project has received funding from the European Union&rsquo;s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No 101006860.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/lN-ye7RGHxg?si=WIrBGvHfnGRJe2Bp\" title=\"YouTube video player\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer;
