The FIBRE4YARDS project<\/a>, coordinated by the International Centre for Numerical Methods in Engineering (CIMNE), has been named a finalist in the prestigious JEC Composites Innovation Awards 2025<\/a><\/strong>, under the category of Maritime Transportation & Shipbuilding. These awards are recognized globally as the highest honours in the field of composite materials.<\/p>\n

The FIBRE4YARDS project has promoted the development of ground-breaking manufacturing technologies<\/strong> utilizing composite materials, transforming shipyard processes with automation and modular construction techniques. Additionally, the project has introduced tools for creating a digital twin of the shipyard<\/strong>, enhancing production and maintenance efficiencies.<\/p>\n

This research promises to elevate production quality, minimize environmental impact, and reduce the costs<\/strong> associated with composite material shipbuilding by using advanced technologies and data sharing concepts in a universal, scalable framework.<\/p>\n

The project, involving thirteen partners from six European countries<\/strong>, has been coordinated by Dr. Xavier Martinez Garcia<\/strong><\/a> of CIMNE’s Research Cluster in Aeronautical, Naval, Automotive, and Energy Engineering.<\/p>\n

Nine cross-cutting experts at CIMNE<\/strong> have taken part in the project, including researchers Dr. Julio Garcia<\/a>, Dr. Daniel di Capua<\/a>, Dr. Fermin Otero<\/a>, Dr. Borja Serván<\/a>, Dr. Rafael Pacheco<\/a>, Dr. Francesc Turon<\/a>, Montserrat Dolz<\/a>, and Dr. Raul Rubio<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The winners will be announced on Monday, January 13, 2025.<\/p>\n
