L&#8217;experi\u00e8ncia principal del grup rau en la creaci\u00f3 i millora de t\u00e8cniques computacionals que permetin predir amb precisi\u00f3 el comportament estructural en condicions ambientals i de c\u00e0rrega complexes. <\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>El grup empra eines computacionals vers\u00e0tils que inclouen el m\u00e8tode d&#8217;elements finits (FEM) juntament amb diverses t\u00e8cniques computacionals basades en part\u00edcules, com el m\u00e8tode d&#8217;elements discrets (DEM) i el m\u00e8tode d&#8217;elements finits de part\u00edcules (PFEM). Mitjan\u00e7ant la uni\u00f3 d&#8217;enfocaments tradicionals basats en continus amb m\u00e8todes de part\u00edcules, el grup crea marcs de simulaci\u00f3 robustos capa\u00e7os de manejar comportaments complexos de materials, grans deformacions i interaccions din\u00e0miques entre diferents fen\u00f2mens f\u00edsics.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>La recerca del grup troba aplicacions en nombrosos sectors d&#8217;enginyeria, com ara estructures d&#8217;enginyeria civil i ambiental, components aeroespacials, estructures marines, elements estructurals en vehicles de transport de superf\u00edcie (cotxes, camions, trens, vaixells) i infraestructures cr\u00edtiques en la ind\u00fastria del petroli i el gas.
